ANNOUNCEMENT
Frank Mitchell passed away at Broadgreen Hospital at 22:50 on Tuesday 29th March 2005.
Frank chose to have a risky and relatively new surgical procedure in an attempt to extend and improve his quality of life following diagnosis of Mesothelioma, cancer of the abdomen wall lining around the lung, in December 04 following several months of investigation.
Mesothelioma is a terminal condition brought upon by working with Asbestos which Frank did as an Apprentice Pipe Lagger before he joined the Royal Marines at the age of 18.
Frank underwent surgery on 17th March and although he did appear to be on the road to recovery, complications set in and pneumonia was diagnosed in the early hours of 29th March.
Frank was with his family when he passed away.
